Year 0 Curriculum (Age ~5–6)

1. Literacy & Language

• Focus: Reading, writing, comprehension, and oral communication in Galactic Tongue (primary language).
• Modules:
  • Module 1: Alphabet & phonetics – recognizing letters and sounds
  • Module 2: Simple words and vocabulary – everyday objects, colors, numbers
  • Module 3: Short sentences – “I see the star,” “The robot moves”
  • Module 4: Storytelling & listening – children’s stories, oral comprehension
• Activities: Singing alphabet songs, tracing letters, reading picture books, simple dictation games
• Assessment: Recognition of letters, ability to read basic words, participation in storytelling

Note: Second language instruction does not start yet; Galactic Tongue is assumed to be spoken at home and reinforced at school.

2. Numeracy / Mathematics

• Focus: Basic number sense, counting, shapes, and simple patterns.
• Modules:
  • Module 1: Counting 1–20, recognizing numerals
  • Module 2: Basic addition/subtraction with objects (1+1, 2+2)
  • Module 3: Shapes and colors – circles, squares, triangles
  • Module 4: Patterns and sequencing – matching, sorting, sequencing objects
• Activities: Manipulative blocks, counting games, matching cards, simple puzzles
• Assessment: Counting, identifying shapes, completing simple patterns

3. Science / Space Awareness

• Focus: Observation and exploration of immediate environment, early space concepts.
• Modules:
  • Module 1: Earth and sky – day/night, sun, moon, stars
  • Module 2: Plants and animals – identifying basic life forms, habitats
  • Module 3: Introduction to “Life in Space” – planets, stars, aliens (simplified, imaginative)
• Activities: Nature walks, sky-watching, storytelling about planets and space creatures
• Assessment: Participation, recognition of basic objects and phenomena
